Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1) Manage, perform, and oversee monthly accounting processes including bookkeeping, bank statement reconciliations, journal entries and management.
2) Assist with the preparation of annual operating budgets, financial statements, and reports.
3) Administer and review all financial plans and budgets, monitor budgets and expenditures and keep department heads appraised of program/department financial status through P&L statements and reporting.
4) Book monthly investment activities, manage cash flow and forecasting.
5) Collaborate with internal departments to reconcile accounting discrepancies.
6) Analyze financial data and assist with audits and reviews.
7) Prepare charitable registration filings and maintain government account registrations and renewals.
8) Update financial spreadsheets and reports with the latest available data.
9) Review existing financial policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
10) Provide assistance with payroll administration.
11) Coordinate with Tidepool Manager and Finance Administrator to reconcile inventory.
12) Keep records and document financial processes.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- At least 2 years’ experience working in a financial capacity.
- Proficiency in integrated financial management software and Quickbooks.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting standards and fiscal procedures.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Great analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Non-profit experience preferred.

The position will be located at The Wetlands Institute, located on a 15,000 acre tidal marsh in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. The Wetlands Institute is a 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission to promote appreciation, understanding and stewardship of wetlands and coastal ecosystems through our programs in research, education and conservation.
